93X Picks Atlanta

Here's the MP3 of 93X morning show sports segment from this morning.  If you're not familiar with it, a Denny Green impersonator calls in and makes football picks.   I think this is the funniest one of the year - the sheriff gets on a Denny Green roll in the middle of it that is unbelievable - because no one can quote the sheriff like this guy can quote the sheriff when he quotes the sheriff.

Controversial Mike Tice Live

I heard this morning that things got a little controversial on Mike Tice Live yesterday.  It was concerning our Minnesota Vikings either – apparently Ticey got a bit fired up about people mocking him.  I haven’t had a chance to listen, but I’ve downloaded the pod cast.  Here’s the link to the pod cast:

I’ll take a listen and let you know what I think.

Chris Kluwe - Special Teams player of the month

Congratulation to Chris Kluwe on being name NFC Special Teams Player of the Month!

Here’s a full story about it.

Mike Tice - Clueless or Spineless?

I heard on Chad Hartman’s show on KFAN on the drive home that Tice admitted that Michael Bennett was supposed to play more than two plays last Sunday against the Saints.  There was a mix up in which Moe Williams played some of Bennett’s plays.  This concerns me in two ways.

Number one, if this is truly the case, then how something as big as whom an NFL team’s running back in the game is get messed up?  How does it get by the all the coaches who are supposed to have a game plan and a sense of strategy?  Is our coaching staff truly that clueless?

Number two, if this is NOT truly the case and Tice had it in the back of his mind that Bennett wasn’t going to play much at all, and then Tice is pretty sleazy.  I mean to use the mix up excuse instead of being a man and just saying that his decision was made to not play Bennett, that’s pretty low.  And if this is the case, I don’t think he’s a good leader.

Mike Tice, you’re in a box – would you rather be clueless or spineless?

The 93X morning show talks about Matt Birk getting a bit testy

Here's a funny bit about 10 minutes into it that talks about Matt Birk and his frustration because he's not playing.

Vikings moving up in Dr Z's power rankings

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writers/dr_z/09/28/ranks.week3/index.html

Dr. Z's power rankings puts Atlanta at #5 in football, up from #6 last week, and the Vikings move up from #31 to #24.  He also writes an interesting stat about the purple..."Each team facing the Vikes this season recorded its highest penalty total of the season in that game."

Atlanta Falcons coming...(part 1)

Here are some interesting thoughts on this week’s game vs. the Atlanta Falcons…

The Rube now has a face!

Here I am after the Vikings defeated the Chiefs in preseason game #1!

Tice backing off on comments made about KFAN listeners

"I meant nothing by it but a joke," Tice said.

Tice's comments in a post game interview included a couple of jabs at KFAN fans booing Daunte Culpepper and that most of the KFAN fans couldn't afford tickets anyway.

Here's a Star Tribune story on it:
http://startribune.com/stories/510/5636787.html

Note - Rube revenge is planted in the middle of the story!

On the Dan Barreiro show (http://www.kfan.com/barreiro/index.html) yesterday, they were asking the income level of all the callers and were joking that only the ones that had a household income of 150K per year would win prizes and they could have as much air time as they wanted.  It was pretty funny stuff.
